Silent Light HistoryThe Spiritual Science Mother Church was founded on May 29, 1923 by Reverend Julia Forrest at Carnegie Hall Studios, in New York City. The National Spiritual Science Center was established in 1941 in Washington, D.C. by Reverend Alice Wellstood Tindall as the First Spiritual Science Church. Reverend Tindall was trained at the Spiritual Science Mother Church in New York City. In 1969, due to illness, Reverend Tindall turned the church over to Reverends Henry and Diane Nagorka. They moved to 16th Street N.W. and renamed the church the National Spiritual Science Center. The NSSC is in its 60th year, providing services and a four year curriculum. It is located at 1325 Fern Street N.W., Washington, D.C. 20012, and is governed by a board of directors. Out of this National Spiritual Science Center, Reverend Sylvia Kalb graduated and founded the Baltimore Spiritual Science Center (which is now in its third decade), with a 4-1/2 year study curriculum and services for the community. Reverend Marcia Ann George graduated from the Baltimore Spiritual Science Center in 1986 and was ordained by the BSSC in 1987. In 1990, a charter was granted by the BSSC and Silent Light, a Spiritual Science school, was founded. In 1998, Silent Light began offering a four year curriculum with ordination upon completion of all requirements. Reverend Bill Teyssier graduated from the Baltimore Spiritual Science Center in 2001 and was ordained in May of 2002. Prior to his assuming directorship of Silent Light, Bill was the 2nd and 4th year teacher at Silent Light for 5 years and was also teaching 2nd and 4th year at The Baltimore Spriitual Science Center for 2 years. However men try to reach me, I return their love with my love; whatever path they may travel, it leads to me in the end. |
